Action for Boston Community Development

TheLCG and ABCD have been working together since 1998. In 2002, TheLCG renovated the ABCD third floor computer lab. This required a strategic review of the computer infrastructure and a succinct understanding of the needs of the students and faculty. The upgrade included 20 DMS computers customized by TheLCG, a full media production suite, and industry standard software from Sonic Foundry and Sony Digital Pictures. In 2002, TheLCG and ABCD collaborated on the Summerworks Documentary project, a multimedia program designed by TheLCG specialists. The framework was designed so that technology was actively intertwined in both creating and enhancing the educational experience and encouraged the students to utilize their full range of learning styles – from visual, to auditory, to kinesthetic – and exercised their critical thinking skills both individually and in a team setting. ABCD provided the student participants, resources, working space and a mentored instructor. The result was a highly professional and innovative hour long documentary.

Massachusetts Housing and Finance Authority

TheLCG has provided the Massachusetts Housing and Finance Authority with strategic technology planning, hardware implementation, teacher training, and innovative educational programming. TheLCG upgraded five community technology centers with DMS computer systems and professional multimedia production software while providing ongoing training and onsite support. TheLCG recently conducted an innovative LTMT (Learning Through Music and Technology) summer pilot program called MadJam ’03, and is now extending the program at two technology centers in a year long after school initiative. The MHFA has had marked success with LTMT, and is actively working with theLCG to offer more LTMT programs to communities across New England
